Meet the staff
Dr. Cyndi Stiglich
Dr. Cyndi Stiglich was born in Michigan and moved to California when she was 6 years old. As a child she brought home every stray cat or dog she found and even raised ladybugs under her mom's kitchen strainer. She attended U.C. Davis for her undergraduate degree and then became a Registered Veterinary Technician. She was an R.V.T for 15 years and even managed a veterinary hospital for 6 of them. She graduated from Ross University of Medicine in 2008 and joined Whipple Avenue Pet Hospital in 2012. Her special interests include dentistry, oral/facial surgery, general surgery, and internal medicine. In her spare time, she skis, sails, and rides horses. Dr. Stiglich treats dogs, cats, and pocket pets.
Dr. Monica Tam
Dr. Monica Tam is a Bay Area native and joined Whipple Ave Pet Hospital in 2017. She attended U.C. Davis for her undergraduate degree in Microbiology and then graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Since then she has been certified as a Fear Free practitioner. Her special interests include animal behavior, dentistry, general surgery, and geriatric care. When she is not at Whipple Ave Pet Hospital, she does in-home animal behavioral training. Outside of work, she spends time with her family and fur babies which includes a medium mixed breed Caribbean dog named Rover and 2 Domestic Short Hair cats named Gus and Thor. She enjoys hiking, camping, photography, and is currently working on developing her digital art skills.
Dr. Melissa Jacobs
Dr. Melissa Jacobs DVM grew up in beautiful British Columbia, Canada and moved to the Bay Area in 2007. She completed an undergraduate degree in Physics/Astronomy/Mathematics at University of Victoria, and worked briefly at an engineering company before finding veterinary medicine as her true calling. She graduated from St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine magna cum laude, then moved on to a rotating small animal internship focusing on Internal Medicine, Emergency and Surgery at the University of Minnesota. She then completed a fellowship in Emergency and Critical care at UMN for one year, after which moving to the Bay Area to complete a specialty Surgical internship at Veterinary Surgical Associates. Since completing that program she has been working in general practice and emergency clinics in the Bay Area. She has been with us at Whipple Ave Pet Hospital since January 2017 on a regular part-time position, the other part-time being a community college Biology Instructor at Foothill College. She loves dogs and cats, teaching, movies, hiking, travelling, and spending time with family and friends.
